Hakhamanesh
Mostafavi, PhD
Principal Investigator
Hakhamanesh is an Assistant Professor at NYU School of Medicine's Center for Human Genetics and Genomics and the Division of Biostatistics in the Department of Population Health. He earned his PhD in Biological Sciences from Columbia University with Molly Przeworski and completed postdoctoral training with Jonathan Pritchard at Stanford University in the Department of Genetics.
Outside the lab, Hakhamanesh enjoys New York's art and music scene, practicing Iranian classical vocal music, and is a member of the Bronx County Chorus.

Yanina
Kuzminich
Postdoctoral Fellow
Yanina earned her PhD in Bioengineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, where she studied LNP-mRNA delivery to the central nervous system with James Dahlman. Outside the lab, Yanina enjoys aerial silks, art museums, and cinematography.

Sool
Lee
Postdoctoral Fellow
Sool earned his PhD in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he studied the allelic regulatory effects and pleiotropic relationships of common genetic variants associated with psychiatric disorders under the mentorship of Hyejung Won. Outside the lab, Sool enjoys New York’s live music scene and photography.

Gouri
Rajaram
Research Associate
Gouri completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s (integrated dual degree) in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. She is broadly interested in applying computational and statistical methods to analyze and interpret biological data in the context of diseases. Besides research, she enjoys Indian classical music, traveling, and playing badminton.

Zoe
Shtalryd
MS Student
Zoe is a Master’s student in Bioinformatics at NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering. She earned her medical doctorate from The Hebrew University and has developed strong programming and data science skills through hands-on experience at healthcare data and medical device companies. She is interested in analyzing biomedical data to uncover insights into complex questions and contribute to improving healthcare outcomes.

Mary
Casagrande
PhD Rotation Student
Mary is a PhD student in the Division of Epidemiology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Department of Population Health. She received her B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology with Honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an M.P.H. in Epidemiology from the University of Washington-Seattle. Her research interests include genetic and molecular epidemiology, as well as the epidemiology of chronic disease. In her personal life, she loves to read fantasy and science fiction, and she loves to travel.

Sylvia Dai
Undergraduate Student
Sylvia is a junior at NYU Abu Dhabi majoring in Biology and Mathematics. She is interested in how infection influences allele-specific expression and in addressing population genetics questions in the context of disease. Outside of research, she enjoys traveling, photography (especially of airplanes), and watching plays.

Dylan Guadiz
Undergraduate Student
Dylan is an undergraduate at NYU majoring in Global Public Health and Biology on the pre-medical track. He is interested in how genetic variation shapes health outcomes through a computational lens. Outside of the lab, he enjoys listening to jazz, playing basketball, and traveling.
